چکیده

Peatland degradation occurs because of the activities carried out on land. This study aims to determine effectiveness Mucuna bracteata in controlling peat soil oil palm plantations and effect age plantations. research was conducted by survey method. The determination location is done a purposive sampling type peatland planted with applied Lagume Cover Crop (LCC MB) without LCC MB aged 3, 4, 5 years. Each studied four replications. physical properties chemical (pH, C-organic, N-total, P-available, K-total, CaO, ash content, electrical conductivity, redox potential) were measured. able control (air holding capacity volume weight) (ash K-total pH, CaO) compared those not applied. MB. until 3 years (P-available K-total), but further increases (4 years) no longer effective soil. (electrical conductivity content), up 4 years, increase (5 it experienced intensive growth.

Logged peat swamp forest supports greater macrofungal biodiversity than large‐scale oil palm plantations and smallholdings

Intensive land expansion of commercial oil palm agricultural lands results in reducing the size of peat swamp forests, particularly in Southeast Asia. The effect of this land conversion on macrofungal biodiversity is, however, understudied. We quantified macrofungal biodiversity by identifying mushroom sporocarps throughout four different habitats; logged peat swamp forest, large-scale oil palm...

Palm oil production through sustainable plantations

The Malaysian oil palm industry is one of the most highly organised sectors of any national agriculture system of the world. Today, though, the focus has shifted to how well agriculture also meets universally accepted standards of sustainability. This paper highlights the development of oil palm cultivation and responsible farming practices in Malaysia, the world’s largest producer of palm oil....

Palm oil and palm olein frying applications.

Several million tones of palm oil and palm olein are used annually in the world for frying. This paper will discuss their frying performances in three major applications - industrial production of potato chips/crisps, industrial production of pre-fried frozen French fries and in fast food outlets. In the first study, about four tones of potato chips were continuously fried 8 hours a day and fiv...

Carbon emissions from forest conversion by Kalimantan oil palm plantations

Oil palm supplies >30% of world vegetable oil production1. Plantation expansion is occurring throughout the tropics, predominantly in Indonesia, where forests with heterogeneous carbon stocks undergo high conversion rates2–4. Quantifying oil palm’s contribution to global carbon budgets therefore requires refined spatio-temporal assessments of land cover converted to plantations5,6. Here, we rep...

Degradation of Triazine-2-14C Metsulfuron–Methyl in Soil from an Oil Palm Plantation

Triazine-2-(14)C metsulfuron-methyl is a selective, systemic sulfonylurea herbicide. Degradation studies in soils are essential for the evaluation of the persistence of pesticides and their breakdown products. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the degradation of triazine-2-(14)C metsulfuron-methyl in soil under laboratory conditions. A High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HP...
